Chathura's story
My experience at Guild
At GuildLink, we provide technological solutions to our customers to optimise their workflows, profits and their customer loyalty. Currently, we cater for four customer segments. Each segment has a different set of needs, and each individual would like to fulfil them differently. Coming up with solutions to meet all these needs profitably is a challenging task. Overcoming these challenges with my team is what I love most about my role.
I feel like I'm a part of a big family at Guild. I have a sense of belongingness that I haven't felt in other places I have worked. When I joined GuildLink in June 2019, the company was going through a transformation phase. Several of my current colleagues joined at the same time and we all brought in experiences from different areas and suggestions to improve how GuildLink operates. The company was open to listening to its people and its customers to realign itself to be better – for this reason, I know I made the right decision to work here.
The culture at Guild is agile, energetic, flexible and friendly. Employees are more than just coworkers. Individuals treat each other with respect and kindness. We are motivated and eager to succeed. The team is highly adaptive, and we frequently reassess and redirect our course of action to adjust to the changing marketplace. Guild also prioritises work-life balance and offers remote work opportunities and flexible scheduling.
Outside of work
I have always loved to play chess and I recently started playing other board games with my family which I enjoy a lot. I'm slowly growing my board game collection—five board games and counting. Before this, my hobby was street photography.
In 2011, I volunteered to produce a promotional video for a Sri Lankan Charity organisation which I am particularly proud of. The video helps to provide essential resources and a good education for less fortunate children. In that year, it helped to raise 6 million rupees for the organisation.
I can read musical notation, have studied classical music and have a degree in Recording Arts. I don't use any of the skills at the moment, apart from playing a tune or two for my wife and recording my 10-year-old's latest rap.
